SpaceX.com

2012

SpaceX designs, manufactures, and launches the world’s most advanced rockets and spacecraft. In 2012, with development of exciting new technologies like the Crew Dragon and Falcon Heavy underway, SpaceX needed a new corporate website to educate their customers and the public, to recruit engineers, and to promote their private-launch services.

As one of two visual designers building this project, I helped shape many facets of the final product, from interactive moments throughout the site (the Falcon Heavy landing page) to the structure of the news, media, and recruiting centers. Design was completed in-house at Odopod in the fall of 2012; development was completed by an internal team at SpaceX.

A brief note: this was one of the first projects of my design career. I owned many parts of this site, and I learned so much from this experience, that I keep it in my portfolio to remind me where I began. This was a Photoshop-built, 1x-resolution site with a few questionable design choices, but it holds a special place in my heart. In 2020, SpaceX launched a brand new website, yet you can still see elements of our original design throughout. 🚀
